These are the famous raised sidewalks of Morristown. (photo courtesy www.lesjones.com )

Quite a landmark.

I had a chance to walk up and about the sidewalks a few years ago, when all the hanging flowerpots were in full bloom with vivid pink flowers. The view from above the street is quite remarkable. Stephen had got a camera from his dad who lived in Florida, and his mom promised him a trip about town to take pictures and we were invited, my son and I, to go along. I was a bit apprehensive, never having done things like that before. She brought grapes and some punch and we even had a mini picnic. Stephen must have got some good pictures, somewhat like the one above, with flowers of course.

I am not familiar with the history of Morristown, but this downtown must have been quite busy, with the two tiers of stores, somewhat like the shophouses of Singapore.

It is a unique feature, these raised sidewalks, and I am told that only three places in the world are fortunate to have these, one of them being ours.
